mfenske
Wife got a 16 SXT as a work vehicle yesterday. Has the 4.3" Touchscreen with BT and no XM. How do I tell if it's a CANBUS unit? dhh3
bramfrank
They're all CANBUS. Why does it matter? dhh3
mfenske
From the limited information I have there's a different interface required to tap in to the factory audio system if it is. dhh3
jkeaton
Just use Bluetooth. dhh3
dhh3
Not sure what you are trying to do, but the whole vehicle runs on the CanBus system; the only difference being whether it is the High Speed System, or the Low Speed System. My Nitro was High Speed. I have no idea what the DJ uses. This is why item's Sales Codes added have to be added to the build list so that they can be activated. Nothing is simple anymore. mfenske
What I'm wanting to do is to tap in to the exisiting stereo to provide an input to an external processor that I'll then feed in to an aftermarket amplifier. I'd prefer not to buy the PAC-CHY5 if I don't have to but if that's what works so be it.
dhh3
You will need an aftermarket harness that plugs into the back of the radio. Cut this harness, and do your wiring; then plug the other end of the harness into the one that was plugged into the back of the radio. jkeaton
mfenske
The harnesses are pretty easy-I've used forward and reverse harnesses to tap in to signal before. I'm just wanting to know if there's anything else i need to be aware of so that it actually outputs signal if it's not under load or throws a code. dhh3
dhh3
Mine has never thrown a code with the addition of an amp and sub. mfenske
