mooley135
I was driving home tonight and the traction control and a red lightening bolt under the PRND display lit up and vehicle lost all power and was idling at 1800 rpms. Wouldn't take gas when you push the gas pedal. I shut it off waited about 30 seconds, started it and it was fine. 5 miles down the road it did it again. Any ideas? Is it electronic or a mechanical problem?
bigtsr
That is what is called "LIMP" mode. 2009 it may be just electrical with regards to battery or recall that has not been performed for 2009 models.
mooley135
So if I disconnect the battery it will fix it? Also, should I take it to the dealership to make sure there isn't any missed recalls? Thanks.
bigtsr
Disconnecting the battery for 15 - 20 minutes resets the CanBus computer network which controls all the primary functions in the DJ , it may resolve electrical faults/gremlins but not always. A bad battery causes many weird faults on todays computer controlled vehicles that is why it should be load tested as part of fault finding particularly if you don't know how long it has been in service. If you goto FCA Chrysler website you can enter your VIN# and if there are recalls outstanding it may well tell you but a dealer must do the work irregardless. jkeaton
