MoparFin
The headlights on my wife's '12 Journey SXT seem really dim. I also think that they are adjusted really low, so I will be adjusting them up just a little. I wanted to know what everyone is using to bulbs. Not looking to do a retrofit, HID bulbs in the reflectors, etc. Best bulbs to get with current reflector headlights that won't blind other drivers. Thanks Edited October 25, 2016 by MoparFin
bramfrank
The appropriate solution is to fit HIR bulbs - they have the same spread and color, but are 40% brighter than stock for the same wattage. There is a benefit in that the life of an HIR1 and HIR2 bulb is about double that of a conventional halogen bulb. Info on HIR bulbs: http://store.candlepower.com/9011hir.html One key on the base of HIR bulbs has to be trimmed to fit into the 9005/9006 receiver. There are templates for this and it is simple to do. I bought mine from candlepowerinc.com The have a deal for a set of 4 bulbs for $70 . . . . . http://store.candlepower.com/hirsponeseto.html A template for trimming the bulb base can be found on this page: http://store.candlepower.com/mohirbuba.html Edited October 26, 2016 by bramfrank jkeaton and 2late4u
MoparFin
So what is the difference between those and these? https://www.amazon.com/Philips-9011-Standard-Replacement-Headlight/dp/B00480J5CW
bramfrank
The retail carded Philips bulbs aren't true HIRs - there's a whole discussion thread out there on the topic if you're an engineer.http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?243470-New-Philips-HIR2-scrutinized
MoparFin
Yep, not a engineer so I will take your word on it. Thanks.
Charger
I bought the same light assemblies and brought them to the dealership to install. They couldn't install them because the connections didn't match. They told me I needed a wire harness to fit. But when I bought them it said it would fit a 2015 Journey Crossroad and was a plug and play and required no other wires. Any idea what is going on? 2late4u
well i guess you need to return them to who ever you bought them from and tell them what the dealer told you.......
