Barry Levy
Have seen procedures using a working remote key fob - which purport - if steps followed - will result in computer programming a second fob. Is there any truth to this? Is there danger - if one places working fob next to 'push to start' button - but not placing foot on brake - and subsequenty doing same with fob to be programmed - one could actually screw up recognition of working fob? Of course, there is also that nettlesome question: Is it true one could even have - say a dealer - do the Programming properly? And the tariff for Programming and cutting the emergency key? Thnx all. jkeaton
There is no onboard programming procedure for the Journey. It requires special equipment be connected to the vehicle to program the keyless remote. Try a locksmith before the dealership, they are usually 50% the cost. 2late4u
Journeyman425
My 2000 Chrysler 300M permits the customer to program an additional Sentry (chip) key, as long as there are two keys present which are already programmed. This is no longer permissible with the current FOBIK system. As JKeaton pointed out, the vehicle must be connected to a scan tool (Dodge dealers use a system called WiTech) to program additional FOBIKs. You cannot disable a programmed FOBIK by following the procedure that you outlined in your post. Our dealership charges $36.00 to program a FOBIK and cut the door key. The procedure takes all of about 10-15 minutes to perform. Most places charge more. jkeaton and 2late4u
